About the RivaTNT2 Motherboard
All my apologies. I have succeeded in getting a PC Chips M754LMR motherboard from 1 friend. This is selling for Rs 2,700. This motherboard has the famous TNT2 Videocard onboard. The MEMORY is shared. I repeat the memory is shared. There is the option for having additional 32 Mb for video buffer. The good thing is that you can change the amount of RAM allocated and move it from 8Mb to 16 Mb to 24 Mb and then to 32 Mb. The bad thing being that it still sucks your system memory out....

First Pentium 4 Mobo out
Gigabyte can be credited with delivering the first Pentium 4 motherboard to meet my eyes, meaning that the official launch scheduled for the 18th October 2000 should not be missed. The GA-8TX is a fairly large ATX model consisting of 5 PCI slots, 1 AGP Pro, 4 Rimm Sockets (1 Gb Support with 256MB DRDRAM), supports 4 ATA100 devices, 4 USB devices and should come rather relatively cheap. Am I right when I say that CPU will be the limiting factor?

Soon to come to you!!! I don't know if it is going to be compatible with ALL motherboards out there but if it is then we'll try some of them with the newest TB. Hope they support overclocking.

16X CD-R Coming!!!
A Korean company named SKC (Never heard of them before) is planning to ship a 16x CD-R effectively making it possible to write a 650Mb CD-ROM in 4m38s. The next logical increment, the 20x CD-R will make it possible to write full CD-ROM in less than 4 mins. SKC is very keen to get into the domains of DVD and other storage media. Competition is always welcome :).

Laser Printer for Rs 5,000
Samsung has launch what seems to be the latest SRP laser Printer. The ML-4500 laser printer has a retail price of US$ 199. It may have only 2 Mb RAM and be a GDI printer but it chunks out 8PPM at 600 Dpi which is impressive by all means.

8x12x10x32 =
The newest DVD-CDR Combo (MP9120A) from Ricoh. The specs are VERY impressive - 32x read, 12x Write and 10x Rewrite as well as 8x DVD. When will I get my 16x72x12x16... Note that the model is available in IDE and SCSI versions though the latter should be much better.

Roxfield Showroom Soon
Roxfield, our dear Sponsor, will open its door somewhere in Port-Louis very very soon. Hope to bring you more news about that as well as photos of the showroom as soon as possible.

Myeldo summoned to change Election site
Apparently , from what I read from L'express of Saturday 09.09.00, Myeldo has been asked by the Election Commissionner to change the configuration of the Election Web Site. I haven't really understood why, it seems to deal to a legal matter. During the past 2 weeks, Myeldo has heavily marketed its website with ads and with a contest with a BookPC as gift.

E-Commerce in Mauritius
An interesting article in L'express, last Thursday - Commerce electronique mode d'emploi. It depicts the present etat des lieux of E-commerce in Mauritius. M. Nicolas Le Maire of FRCI talks about the pertinence of Business to Consumer sites and acknowledges that Market size is the main obstacle to E-commerce dev. in Mauritius.
