The Details of the IT plan from MMM-MSM
From Le Mauricien:
Note that the Expression "Information and Communication Technologies
(ICT) has been used"

AMD's
Duron 750 Mhz out
AMD latest CPU, competitor to Intel's Celeron range is out yesterday.
The Duron 750 Mhz is the fourth addition to AMD already well garnished
low end processor range. The Duron SHOULD not be compared with the
Celeron however though they share the same price bracket. The Duron
has the same properties as the Plain Vanilla Athlon Thunderbird -
the same bus and the same technology but theu differ in their Level
2 Cache amount (the cache is a ultra high speed cache used on the
chip). In fact, Hardware reviews are now comparing the Duron with
the Pentium 3 CPU !!!!! |
New
AMD Motherboards out Soon
Gigabyte, Asus and MSI, 3 of the larger Motherboards manufacturers
are planning to get DDR-Motherboards out soon for AMD Athlon platform.
This is a well needed helping hand from the Taiwanese Companies for
the Processor Manufacturer in the wake of the imminent release of
the Pentium 4. The DDR-based motherboards will give the Athlon's the
necessary boostup it needs to stay ahead of the performance race.
Moreover, don't forget that Pentium 4 will require very special arrangements
and therefore special motherboards as well as a whole slew of accessories
which might take some time to standardize. DDR chipsets come from
ALI and VIA (Where is SIS? Where is Micron). VIA to release Intel
DDR Chipsets and then AMD based ones. Remember that P4 will have a
Rambus ONLY platform at the start. |

results - The higher the better
All the results are to be taken with some pinces - they are based
on prerelease hardware and therefore are certainly below reality.
I won't delve into technical details about why the P4 is SO slow in
Some benchmarks and why it is so quick in some others (memory and
video related). |
How Intel plans to counteract AMD's Duron
OK, here's the plan. Celeron's are crippled Pentium 3. How can it
be?? The new version of Celeron (known to many as Celeron 2) is based
on the same technology (coppermine) as the latest P3. Their main differences
is that Celerons have 1/2 the cache onboard and that the bus speed
is stagnant at 66 mhz while P3 hovers at 133mhz. To catch-up with
the latest Duron, Intel is planning to raise the Bus speed to 100
mhz. Hence, Celeron's will clocked in speed grades of 50 or 100 Mhz.
The current P3 crop is also meant to compete with both Celerons and
Durons (don't ask me why), since new P3 would mean certain death for
them ...unless Intel fails to promote Rambus chipset and Rambus technology
in toto and that it is forced to adopt PC-133 which would really make
it a fuss to compete with DDR-technoloies... Are you still with me?
Yes ? Then we'll continue next time.. I'm somewhat err. Fatigué.

8-Year
old strikes fortune with Dot-Com
He was in his bath just like Archimedes when he got a very Bright
idea. Joseph Allen (8 years and no parents called Paul) from Wiltshire
became (with the help of his uncle) what is seen as the youngest e-com
entrepreneur. He set up a site called betachance
which specialises in gambling and is planning to go to floatation
in order to Raise a COOL Rs 14m. Pena pu dire...!!!!! |
Here comes Complice's and Emcard Internet Counterpart
The idea is simple : just like you have Prepaid cards for net-2-phone,
complice and Emcards, why not have one for Internet!!!! World online
is planning to offer such a service - Jalda is its name. I think that
many will soon emulate it. Especially since so many want to have net
Kiosks ;) |
Using
Hyperlink is illegal !
.. Unless you cough up money to British Telecom which is the legitimate
user of the patent (4873662) which ends up in 2006. It reminds me
of Rambus. BT which is literally downing under accumulated debts could
easily get a lot of money out of negociation and even more out of
Litigiation - ain't it? Isn't it cute to see BT turning out such a
trick to get money... As I always say, competition is good, mono-oligo
poly is bad. This case brings out a lot of questions, ain't it? Why
wait so long before making public such a case is one of them 8-) |
This
is a Dog-E-Dog world
Doggy news : TOMY, a world famous toy maker, has release a toy dog
which according to the manufacturer can exhibit 16 different kind
of personalities according to how his master treats him. Moreover,
not only does it speaks Doggie tongue, but it has its own biult-in
speech robot tongue. Kewl, just imagine for one second the 101
e-dalmatians version. In another part of the world, The 4th Championship
of Robocup 2000 (the robo equivalent of World Cup) has seen a shocking
victory (10-0) of the UNSW team which used Sony's AIBO dog. |
